Not my type of game...
I think they would Morgan... behind closed doors. The Sony Playstation brand recognition is still a major hurdle to overcome. Here in Aus, the PS3 is only 100,000 behind (360 500,000 to PS3 400,000) and given it was released a year after, MS isn't the most well loved company Downunder.
I suspect it is the same scenario across most of Europe, with the UK numbers offsetting that a little.
I would be very surprised if FFXIII would be on more than 4 disks. I don't think it's an issue of charging more to the consumer either, as it isn't really a new precedent (ie Lost Odyssey spanning 4 disks) which was the regular price.
Good numbers all round. The PSP is doing great, was something big recently released? Pretty incredible that it sold more than the DSi...
Ouch 800 MS points, you have to be kidding me...For Battleships? This MS pricing is getting out of hand.
I don't like where MS's pricing system is going...
The pleasure is all mine mate.
I certainly see your point, and contrary to my statements I am not asking the developers to compromise their initial vision, if it is only possible on a certain platform. Yet if MGS4 was ported to the 360 (obviously with multiple disks and using compression techniques), it will not be affecting your enjoyment of the game you had already experienced, it is simply opening up Kojima's masterpiece to more people. Intern that creates more revenue for the...
Thanks Examiner for this article, we couldn't deduce it from the NPD numbers you yourself supplied...
We are gamers though, so of course we have to be spoon feed the 'information'.
Am I the only one who never, ever buys platinum/greatest hits versions? I don't know what it is, I just refuse to buy them. Damn OCD... :)
I can see the PS3 price drop really shooting numbers through the roof. For me personally, I'm waiting for the price drop and then I'm snapping one up, I assume many will be doing the same.
I'm with Mint Royale on this one, sales numbers only indirectly impact the end user (gamer). How about we focus on real news, like upcoming games etc?
I see this conversation is still going, with the majority not resorting to the usual 'fanboy' banter, why can't N4G be like this all the time?
I think the distinction between what the PS3 is capable of compared to the 360 in terms of graphical/audio prowess is being blown a little out of proportion. Yes I realise the increased processing power affords different A.I avenues as well as physics calculations etc, but I am yet to see this 'revolutionise' the industry like many think i...
And you're the Assassin right? The one who was duped by his superiors... :) jk.
So I'm supporting MS by not agreeing with your comments? You surprise me Morgan, as someone who definitely knows how to hold a conversation and articulates himself fairly well, you are so one-sided it is disheartening.
I think your attitude is inherently selfish, why does it matter if 360 owners get to play it? As everyone likes to claim, the game is 'built from the ground up' for PS3, so...
Well your first sentence could be considered you 'postulating', though your following statements.
"...PS3 owners can shake their heads with this knowledge. Real gamers can also be disgusted that Microsoft will have paid money to ruin a game for everyone. Sad really."
Ruined for everyone? I could have sworn one of the most beloved franchises will now reach out to more people who may not have had the chance to experience it?
Semantics aside, I will...
You should know better than anyone that spreading misinformation and anti-MS propaganda isn't beneficial to anyone, your comments have more clout around here than you realise.
"Microsoft may also have paid Square enough money to reduce the size of the final game to two discs. PS3 owners can shake their heads with this knowledge. Real gamers can also be disgusted that Microsoft will have paid money to ruin a game for everyone. Sad really."
Neither of us know...
It was popularised during WW2 in anti Japanese propaganda and has since been considered a derogatory term in the Oxford dictionary as well as Webster's dictionary (and many others).
It was also used as a disparaging term for Japanese-Americans, to infer disloyalty towards the US.
btw I'm not Japanese, I just don't think it's appropriate to use the term.
Hopefully that makes sense now tintin. Cheers.
I notice the interest in Square-Enix is back again from PS3 owners, hopefully because they realise FFXIII is looking to be a great addition to the franchise. Unfortunately the interest seems to be more focused on the supposed 'gimped' 360 version...
Can I possibly pose the question, why does it matter if the 360 version is on 5 or even 10 disks, you all seem to be buying the PS3 version?
No worries mate, appreciate the mature response. Kind regards, Immortal Kaim.
Can everyone please ease up on the 'Jap' remarks, it's clearly a derogatory remark, show some respect.
I haven't had the chance to play this yet, might have to give it a go.
Yeah, I think it is a disgrace that we pay $80 a year for a service that most of the time, doesn't work up to scratch...
I don't think I will be paying for Gold again when mine runs out.
